Years Writing
"I write because silence is too loud. Every word is a rebellion against the nothing."
I'm Johnny Cate — a poet who accidentally became a copywriter, or maybe the other way around. Either way, I spend most of my time staring at blinking cursors, waiting for the right combination of syllables to show up and justify the coffee.
My work lives in two worlds: the literary journals where I publish poetry about cities, ghosts, and the ache of being alive, and the boardrooms where I help brands find voices that don't sound like they were generated by a committee.
I've been published in The Rumpus, Poetry Magazine, and American Poetry Review. My copy has launched coffee brands, outdoor gear companies, and at least one record label that still owes me vinyl.
I believe the best writing — whether it's a sonnet or a sales page — starts with honesty and ends with something that makes you feel less alone.
